Know Your Saints

Not much going on around here. I copied Jetty and posted a music player to this blog. If it annoys the hell out of you, let me know and I'll remove it or set it so it's not automatic when you open this page.

Tonight we went to dinner at a neat little Mexican place near Atlantic Beach called Tijuana Flats. Kind of quirky cafe that serves pretty good Mexican food, beer, and a whole array of hot sauces that can also be purchased by the bottle. You can try all of them at the condiment counter - pretty smart marketing. We went with Rob and SUPPO Don (that's supply officer to all you non-Navy types). The Navy has more crazy-ass acronyms and abbreviations than you can shake a stick at. When I came home, I turned on Sundance (my favorite station after IFC and the Travel Channel) and caught most of "A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints", starring Shia LaBeouf and Robert Downey Jr., both as a young and older version of writer Dito Montiel. I had heard about this a year or two ago and was intrigued. It's an autobiographical story about Montiel growing up in a very rough neighborhood in Queens in the 80s. It was very enthralling without being cutesy nostalgic or preachy. If you liked "Basketball Diaries", you'll definitely like this one. And bizarrely enough, it was produced by Sting and his wife Trudie Styler (the lady that hooked up Madonna with Guy "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" Ritchie).

No, don't get rid of the music player! You've got good stuff on there. Like your own little soundtrack. I copied someone else myself. I haven't found a good mexican restaurant around here but I did find a good sushi restaurant today.

Aren't I glamorous?
